RubyForge is Down Yet Again...

Posted by admin Sun, 28 Jan 2007 22:46:00 GMT

OK, I do realize that RubyForge is providing a free service, but none of the mirrors are working now either:

  • Dennis Oelkers (Lauschmusik) - rubyforge.rubyuser.de - both file and RubyGem mirror
  • Matthew Bloch (Bytemark) - (gems|files).rubyforge.vm.bytemark.co.uk - both file and RubyGem mirror
  • Manuel Subredu (RoEduNet Iasi) - rubyforge.iasi.roedu.net - both file and RubyGem mirror
  • Andreas Schwarz (Ruby-Forum) - rubyforge-(gems|files).ruby-forum.com - both file and RubyGem mirror
  • Michael Noack (inoack)- (files.)?ruby.inoack.com - both file and RubyGem mirror

(Planet Argon) also spits back a 403 - (Forbidden), as do all of the mirrors except those that spit back a 404 - (Not Found).

Does anyone know if this is a coordinated attack, or did the government decide that Ruby on Rails is too close to taking over the world and had to be shut down?

Come on guys… I guess we will have to host a mirror just so we can keep the latest updates and plugins available for our consulting work.

Look for a post here with our mirrored RubyForge URL.

RubyForge Down Again

Posted by admin Fri, 15 Dec 2006 04:42:00 GMT

It seems to be a re-occuring theme, but http://www.rubyforge.org is down yet again. Here are a two mirrors in case you cannot wait this time:

  • http://rubyforge.planetargon.com/gems.rubyforge.org

Use:

gem install --source mirror

Looks like they are getting DOS attacks…

12/14/06: RubyForge was down from 1:32 PM to 2:25 PM. Still investigating the reason. 5:22 PM update: it’s down again, looks like a denial of service attack. Trying to restart things.
